Would Naming One Of Your Main Characters Dante Valentine Be Okay?

The only reason I'm asking this is that I am writing my first novel and I recently found out that their was another character named Dante Valentine in Lilith Saintcrow's The Dante Valentine Series. So would it be okay if I used that name if it is already taken?
