Can I salvage over whipped double cream?

I whipped some double cream last night and put it in the fridge. This morning I tried to whip it a little more as it wasn't quite thick enough but it immediately collapsed to runny. It doesn't look as though it's started to split. Is there anything I can do to salvage it and turn it back Into thick whipped cream? I've heard adding a little more double cream helps, or putting it in the freezer, but I'm dubious of both.
