Dose mercury poisoning cause foaming mouth?

I was watching a TV show on Adult Swim and a women tasted a cake covered with Mercury and in seconds she started foaming blood from the mouth and fell to the floor convulsing and died. Is that really what mercury poisoning does to a person? "very bad way to go"
